I’m in a photo posting mood at the moment. I have animal photos over on my Shelley Munro blog and today I’m posting several from our trip through Zaire in Africa. It took us exactly one month to travel 1200 kms on our overland journey from Zimbabwe to London.
I thought it might be fun for you to write some captions for the photos - remember there’s still a download of ISSY’S INFATUATION, my upcoming release from Ellora’s Cave on offer. All you need to do is add a comment on any of our posts and you’re in the draw. In fact, let’s make this interesting - I’ll give away a download of WILD CHILD as well. So, two winners equals lots of fun comments ;-) Winners will be announced on Mar 22.
Go wild with the comments - use your imaginations, and I’ll give you the real scoop in a couple of days.
Note: the photos are scanned from prints, hence the black around the edges.

Holy cow, look at all the mud! LOL
Here’s my comment for #4 - “Man, I just KNEW I should have stayed home today!”
by Rhonda Stapleton March 16th, 2007 at 3:52 pmOh wow, I can’t wait to hear all about this trip! Welcome back!
by Ciar Cullen March 16th, 2007 at 3:53 pmWhat great pictures! And such an interesting journey.
I love the person sitting reading at the side of the road, like someone waiting for a bus!
by Ansley Vaughan March 16th, 2007 at 3:59 pmHey Shell! Don’t enter me in the contest - I just had to comment and say wicked pictures! I sooooo want to visit Africa. What was your most favorite moment of the trip?
by Nalini Singh March 16th, 2007 at 6:19 pmNow the gal reading at the side of the road, that would be me. I have learned to take advantage of any quiet moments, and will whip out a book at every opportunity. On a stool in the dirt at the side of a road, done that. Looking forward to hearing the scoop.
by cathy March 16th, 2007 at 6:34 pmWow, that must have been an amazing trip.
You will definitely have to tell us more. The pictures are cool, that is a lot of mud!
by Kris March 16th, 2007 at 8:13 pmRhonda - you have no idea how often I wished we hadn’t driven down those roads
It was a hard slog!
Ciar - I wish I had just returned from Africa. This was a trip we took a few years ago. I’ve been hiding in my writing cave.
Thanks, Ansley! We did a lot of waiting around between mud holes…
Hey Nalini! We spent seven months going through Africa so there were heaps of memorable moments but one of the best had to be seeing the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. I must dig out that post and repost it here when I’m having a “busy-can’t think day”. There’s a gorilla photo on my website in the photo album section.
Hi Cathy! I think I’d exhausted my stock of books by then. From memory someone arrived with Jean Auel’s books and I devoured them one after the other.
by Shelley Munro March 16th, 2007 at 8:18 pmHi Kris - yes, it was amazing but the trip certainly had its stressful moments. A civil war broke out in Zaire, which was why we traveled the back roads!
by Shelley Munro March 16th, 2007 at 8:19 pmI think I deleted by last post by mistake, so here goes again..
WOW! What an awesome experience!
Off to see the animal pictures…
