Mr. Munro decided he wanted to tidy up the office yesterday. He sprung it on me without warning. I gaped at him, my mind not working quickly enough to offer up reasonable excuses as to why we shouldn’t rearrange the organized clutter in the office.
His excuse was so there was room in the bookshelves for my print titles. Yep, he was doing it for me!
About two minutes later I had various items shoved under my nose. Do we need this? Throw. Chuck. Toss. He dropped things into the rubbish bin before I could offer an opinion. What are you doing with this? He frowned at my towering pile of Romance Writers of America and RT magazines. Do you need all those?
I cautiously agreed that perhaps I didn’t need all of them. About half an hour later, shelves looked remarkably tidy, the clutter reduced. Mr. Munro triumphantly arranged my print titles on a shelf - all nine of them - and propped them upright with a Mexican stone bookend.
“There,” he said. “I told you that would look better.” The satisfaction on his face screamed of “mission accomplished”. Yes, he looked decidedly smug.
Nodding, I said, “Thank you. That does look better.” It was nothing less than the truth, but next time, I’m going to make a run for it when I see the slightest glint of “cleanup bug” in his eyes.
Mr. Munro in cleanup mode is a scary thing.

Sounds like my hubby in cleaning mode, lol.
by Lisa W May 28th, 2007 at 12:42 pmI wish i got that bug more often. I am just not motivated very often to clean. Plus I am a pack rat, I know as soon as I throw it away I will think of a need for it. :)
by Kris May 28th, 2007 at 12:46 pmI hate it when my dh gets in one of those moods! However, right now I’m in one, but he won’t comply. I really want to throw away, but am afraid I will need it tomorrow!
by Brenda Talley May 29th, 2007 at 1:14 amI always worry I’m going to throw away something I need. In fact, it usually happens!
by Shelley Munro May 29th, 2007 at 4:38 amWhenever I start cleaning and throwing things out my husband gets upset. He says I only throw out his things. He is a pack rat.
by Joan Woods May 29th, 2007 at 6:40 amSo funny!! My husband NEVER cleans. But every once in a while he needs to find something that me, with the female parts(you know, we only have those for babies and finding things!!) can’t tell him exactly where it is and whoooeee, off he goes…cleaning. And with the same thing as yours, “What’s this? Do we really need it?” Drives me bazonkers!!!
by Kim May 29th, 2007 at 11:46 amLOL Sounds like me. *g*
