To Boob? Or Not To Boob?

Is it really a question?

One “D” cup told me today, “Boobs may be a sign of womanhood, but bigger ain’t necessarily better. These damned things hurt! They pull on my shoulders, they pull on my neck, I have to worry more about saggin’ and I’ve got years before I even have kids. And, dang it, I can’t wear the shirts I want! *gggrrrrrr!!!* On the other hand, small boobs aren’t the answer either, because boobs should be more than just a nipple *snark*.”

Then a young guy told me that he doesn’t care what size they are. And an author recently posted a brilliant blog on the advantages of velcro boobs. I laughed so hard I got a whole weeks worth of abdominal exercises done in that little five minute read.

As readers, do we prefer for a woman’s breasts to be described a certain way in a novel? Do we give a single fig whether our hero likes big breasts or small breasts? Whether you’re big boobed or small boobed, I’m sure you’ve had the breast conversation sometime in your life. And the conclusion was… what? Share your wisdom and wise cracks with us about a subject that just won’t go away…as long as we have boobs in the world :D

  1. I’ve always felt sorry for women with big breasts. Some have a lot of extra weight to carry around and suffer from really bad backs because of it.

For every male who prefers large breasts there’s one who prefers a curvy butt or long legs. Love who you are and flaunt your best assets. That’s my wisdom for the day

  2. AMEN, SHELL! Your wisdom is…well, wise ;D Heck, I remember getting teased for being flat chested when I was twelve, then when I started developing I was teased for having breasts. Then after I nursed my kids, they went away again. But I don’t really care. I’m so totally happy with myself it’s almost scary (mwahaha!)

  3. I don’t have a lot in the chest department, but my husband has never cared. He’s more of a legs and hips man. *g* Which is good, ’cause I got plenty in that deparment.

I’ve never worried about being smaller in the breast department. I always figured it was less of me to sag as I got older. *g*

As a reader, and a writer, I want the female character to be real, no matter what her attributes happen to be. Men are attracted by different things, just as women are. There is room for every type of person.

  4. Love you insight, NJ!
