Happy Almost Friday

Hey ya’ll! I’m reading about dragons and my god they are HOT! And not just ’cause they blow fire either. It’s part of the Shadow of the Dragon series by Tielle St. Clare. I’d read the other books in the series a year or two ago and they were absolutely fabulous. The characters in those stories were well written, along with the dragons who accompanied their charges. Talk about details! Tielle made me ’see’ what the characters were seeing. Made me ‘feel’ what the characters and their dragons felt. I figured book four in the series, called Dragon’s Prey, would be the same. And I was spot on!

I’m only on page 364 and I’m burning my poor eReader up! Now, I like sex in a book as well as the next person, but sex for the sake of sex is boring. Give me some plot. Give me some action. Give me some suspense. Give me a reason to care about the characters. Give me all that and I’ll stick with you forever.

Well, Tielle, I’m with you forever, girlfriend ’cause the Shadow series RAWKS from beginning to the end!

Here’s the blurby bit from Tielle’s book, Dragon’s Prey:
Shadow of the Dragon - Dragon’s Prey By Tielle St Clare
Book 4 in the Shadow of the Dragon series.

Captured and put into slavery, it should be a simple thing for Kayla to escape, if only her dragon would cooperate. But the blasted beast — bored with the males at home — sees Kayla’s captivity as the perfect opportunity to find her mate.

When her dragon finds the man for Kayla, he’s all wrong. He’s too strong, too aggressive and way too grouchy. He’s the perfect mercenary but he’ll make a rotten husband. Unfortunately, her body — and her dragon — don’t care about any of that and while she wants to hate Captain Sixx, she finds herself unable to resist him.

For Sixx, getting the pretty little slave as a gift is more irritation than pleasure. What’s he supposed to do with her? He’s got enough troubles — including a curse and a snotty young warrior preparing to challenge him — now he’s got her to deal with. Of course, having Kayla chained up in his bedchamber does have its benefits.

So now Kayla just has to figure out how to get home, keep Sixx safe from her father’s wrath, oh, and tell her lover she’s part dragon.

Love ya!

Cascadia Wolves: Fated - Now Available!!

The next book set in the Cascadia Wolves universe, FATED, is now available from Samhain Publishing!

Just because Fate brings you your perfect mate doesn’t mean it’ll be easy.

Cascadia Wolves series

Could there be any worse fate than a road trip from Seattle to L.A.—with one’s mother—to attend a wedding? Why yes, when one isn’t married yet, like Megan Warden. Toss in a grandmother and a carload of already married sisters and it’s a recipe for sneaking sips of “special” coffee while someone else drives.

Shane Rosario has better things to do than attend a wedding where his father’s relatives will be at him nonstop about getting married and having children. If it weren’t for seeing his anchor bond, Layla, he’d have taken a pass on the entire weekend. It would be easy, since he’s become adept at hiding who and what he is.

When the two weren’t even looking, Fate steps in and before they know it, their bond is sealed. Bonded pair, married in the eyes of their people. Two people tied together in every way. Trouble is, Shane’s not sure he wants all that comes with Megan. And Megan’s certain she’s not willing to live outside her pack, pretending to be human.

The distance between them is more than geographical. It’s a widening gulf rapidly filling with resentment…an emotional divide only acceptance could bridge. Can Shane can accept himself to cross it? Only if they let love take control.

Caramel Kisses

We’ve just started edits on the contemporary sold to Ellora’s Cave, called Caramel Kisses. It’s my first contemporary EVER with no spirit guides, no shifters, no vamps. Big change for me!

I promised an excerpt, so here you go (this was also posted on the Wild On Books blog when I guest blogged over there last Wednesday).

Enjoy!

So far vacationing with Drew had been a blast. Sydni was having an awesome time exploring the land of The Lord of the Rings. There couldn’t possibly be another place like New Zealand anywhere on Earth. And certainly not another man anywhere like Drew. In addition to arranging the most out-of-the-way accommodations, he’d arranged helicopter tours of some of the locations where the movie had been filmed. The land was wild and untamed in places, bringing to mind certain scenes from her favorite epic film. And she had her own action hero in a rugby player’s body, but with a more stylish haircut.

Sydni leaned back in her chaise and frowned down at the baby powder fine sand underneath her feet, debating whether she wanted to swim and get sand up her ass, or just lay here and watch Drew play. Raising her gaze, she watched her man approach and had to force herself to breathe. As usual.

Rising up out of the waves, Drew dripped sex. After planting his surf board into the sand every step he made toward her sent her stomach rippling up into her throat. The water dripped down his body in sparkling rivulets, leaving wet paths in the downy hair of his bare chest. Packed slabs of muscle bunched and flexed as he wicked the water down and away from his arms. God the man had the most delicious thighs and well-formed calves she’d ever seen on a man. And an ass to simply die for, which happened to be nicely outlined by his soaked swim trunks.

His dark mop of hair was plastered to his head, curling about the ends as he made his way toward her, dripping wet. The dripping made her think of how he made other things…drip.

…from a Reader

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I read Carinian’s Seeker last night. I could not put it down until it was finished. OMG! This story is awesome. I have never read a story about an interracial couple and I have never read one where the heroine was at least 36 yers old. I reallllllly needed to broaden my horizons when it comes to my reading tastes and this story was the perfect start.

Bix is the ultimate alpha hero vampire and Carin was a smart, sassy, kick-ass heroine. I can’t forget the scorching sex scenes. I almost forgot the reasons for my five year celibacy. (LOL) This is an amazing book and I will definitely order Serati’s Flame and Hatsept Heat ASAP!

Have great week.

Tara ”

The book she was talking about is the first book in the Vampire Council of Ethics. If you haven’t read it yet, please do and be sure to let me know what you think. If you have read it, then pick up the latest book, HATSEPT HEAT. Woohoo! I just love it when someone likes my writing!

On Tour

A few months ago I purchased magnetic signs from VistaPrint for my car. They feature Midnight Treat and were so pretty when they arrived my husband suggested I take them on holiday. We’ve slapped them on the rental car. Here’s a photo of shelleymunro.com on tour.

After leaving San Francisco, we headed to Yosemite National Park. We’ve visited before, but it’s so pretty we decided to go again. We’d heard about the fires they’d had and were concerned about visibility. We passed loads of fire engines and a huge camp where hundreds of firemen were camped, but they were all returning home and visibility was excellent at the park. We saw some sort of deer and some tiny chipmunks. No bears today, although we had wasps when we tried to have a picnic lunch. We have a Mazda rental car and it’s a little feisty. The petrol flap wouldn’t open until Mr. Munro used some Kiwi ingenuity and then, when we stopped to get out of the car inside the park, the alarm went off. Loudly. Insistently. That’s why we didn’t see any bears. They heard us coming!! After much cursing and swearing on Mr. Munro’s part, we finally managed to get the car alarm to stop shrieking. I think we have it sussed now, although only time will tell.

Here’s a photo of El Capitan. The huge mountain dominates the skyline. Isn’t it pretty?

Just had my first margarita since I didn’t get around to having one in San Francisco. Yum. I like them very much. We’re not big on cocktails in New Zealand, and they’re very expensive. I’m still hanging out for a cinnamon bun. Soon. Very soon! Oh, and I should mention the conference was lots of fun, although I’m very tired.

Sunday Stuff

I’m in a weird mood. Tired. But energized. I have a bit of a headache, but still am tempted to go run around in the (yet again) almost 100-degree weather. I have the urge to do a bunch of housework…but don’t want to do any. I’m just all mixed up! But not…LOL!

Oh, and Hatsept Heat is available for the Kindle! I’m so stoked! Also, the first two Vampire Council of Ethics books just appeared there. And they have this neat little ‘Free Sample’ thing where you can check out the book before you buy it. Now is that cool or what?

And now I’m hungry, but not sure what I want to eat, so I think this ‘What Food Are You’ quiz is perfect. I’m Sushi!

You Are Japanese Food

Strange yet delicious. Contrary to popular belief, you’re not always eaten raw.

Also, if you haven’t been to listen to the radio show I did with Mandy Roth and Michelle Pillow, be sure to check it out. And if course I mentioned my girls, SHELLEY and LAUREN! Why? Cause they RAWK!

FREEEE BOOOK!!!!

Got your attention? Well, if you own a Kindle reader and you’ve never read my books or you’ve wanted to try my Chase series and haven’t yet - here’s your chance to try me out for the grand total of FREEEEE! Giving Chase is the first in my Chase Brothers series - contemporary small town romance from Samhain.

Yes that’s right - from August 4 to 10th, readers can get a copy of GIVING CHASE for the kindle reader absolutely free at Amazon! Click the cover or the sentence above to go straight to the Amazon Kindle page.

Blurb: Some small towns grow really good looking men! This is the case with the four Chase brothers. The home grown hotties are on the wishlist of every single woman in town and Maggie Wright is no exception.

Maggie has finally had it with the men she’s been dating but a spilled plate of chili cheese fries drops Shane Chase right into her lap. The sheriff is hot stuff but was burned by a former fiance and is quite happy to play the field.

After Shane’s skittishness sends him out the door, Maggie realizes that Kyle Chase has had his eye on her from the start. Now that Shane has messed up, Kyle has no intention of letting anything stop him from wooing her right into his bed.

Despite Maggie’s happiness and growing love with Kyle, a dark shadow threatens everything. She’s got a stalker and he’s not happy at all. In the end, Maggie will need her wits, strength and the love of her man to get her out alive.

Warning, this title contains the following: explicit sex, graphic language, and some violent situations.

I hope those of you who grab it let me know if you like it!

OUTSHINED

I’m very happy with my progress! I hope to keep chipping away at that wordcount so the book is done by the end of August. We shall see.

In booktalk land - I read Patricia Briggs’ Cry Wolf this last week and I absolutely adored it. I think Patricia Briggs is one of the best world builders writing today and so I wasn’t surprised at all to discover just how much I loved Cry Wolf.

Some romance, some action, some suspense - all combined into a really quick, engrossing read.

Another winner from Briggs that has me excited to see what’s next for Charles and Anna. The little tidbit at the end of CW for the next Mercy book looks very good too.

And Emma Holly’s All You Can Eat now available in mass market. This was a solid 3 1/2 - 4 star read for me. Amusing, sexy, hot sex scenes. I think Personal Assets remains my favorite contemporary along with Velvet Glove and I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see more of Jack’s “darker” sexual side but there’s something in All You Can Eat for just about all tastes!

OK, back to work for me!
