Sunday Stuff

I’m in a weird mood. Tired. But energized. I have a bit of a headache, but still am tempted to go run around in the (yet again) almost 100-degree weather. I have the urge to do a bunch of housework…but don’t want to do any. I’m just all mixed up! But not…LOL!

Oh, and Hatsept Heat is available for the Kindle! I’m so stoked! Also, the first two Vampire Council of Ethics books just appeared there. And they have this neat little ‘Free Sample’ thing where you can check out the book before you buy it. Now is that cool or what?

And now I’m hungry, but not sure what I want to eat, so I think this ‘What Food Are You’ quiz is perfect. I’m Sushi!

You Are Japanese Food

Strange yet delicious. Contrary to popular belief, you’re not always eaten raw.

Also, if you haven’t been to listen to the radio show I did with Mandy Roth and Michelle Pillow, be sure to check it out. And if course I mentioned my girls, SHELLEY and LAUREN! Why? Cause they RAWK!

So Glad It’s Thursday!

I was on the radio last night with Mandy Roth and Michelle Pillow on the Raven Vampire Radio Show last night. It was a hoot! Gia Dawn (she writes cool books for Samhain) was on, too. Get the four of us together in the same room and we just take over the world!

I did spend some time talking about the release of Hatsept Heat (which came out on Tuesday. (To purchase, Visit Samhain Publishing ), but we spent more time cracking up and being bad than anything else. Geesh, no surprise there ;D

Meanwhile, I’m at work sitting in a training class. I’ve been teaching all week and asked another staff member to come in and touch on a subject that she’s an expert at. So, I’m sitting here listening to her talk to my students while I write this blog. Class is over this afternoon - I have to give the students an exam first.

And when the day is over, I’m gonna count down to FRIDAY!!!!

I’ve been getting back to the next Vampire Council of Ethics story - it’s Alaina Bixler and Shale Krulm’s tale. But I just can’t think of a name for it. So, I’m just going to forget about it for now, and get on with the story. I’ve been jumping back and forth between working on the outline and actually writing. There’s this song by India.Arie called ‘Brown Skin’ that just makes me all hot and bothered. You can bet I’ll be listening to it as I write the steamy lovin’.

O, and in case you don’t remember, Shale Krulm almost got his butt kicked by Bix in Carinian’s Seeker when he spoke to Carin out of turn. But it’s years later and now…HE’S FREAKING HOT!!!

Talk later!

And don’t forget that HATSEPT HEAT came out on Tuesday! Woo!

Interview and Sale

I have a new interview up at Manic Readers. BTW, if you’re an author you can sign up for a free page at Manic Readers. Here’s mine.

Finally, we had a fine day today, and I went for a long cycle ride. Unfortunately all that fresh air was a bit too stimulating for my brain, because I had two ideas for stories and one in particular is screaming, “Write. Me. Now.” Not gonna happen. I’ve done a note to jog my memory at a later date, and I’m ploughing ahead with my sci-fi story.

We went out for lunch with friends yesterday and had both great food and company. I take my camera with me everywhere and decided I needed a photo of my cherry beer. I’d taken a couple of sips. A passing waiter asked if I’d like some froth on top for my photo. “Yes, please!” I said and he took away my drink, returning seconds later with some nice froth on top. Wasn’t he nice?

Did you have a fun weekend?

Quivering Thighs? Wow!

Author and Sister-girlfriend, Ashlyn Chase, recently had a book released called Quivering Thighs. Now when I first saw the title, I thought, “Oh. My. Freaking. God!” And knowing what an awesome writer Ashlyn is, I knew the book would be a hit. But I talk to Ash all the time. This time I figured we’d do something different. So, ladies and gentlemen, meet Kendra Dempsey, heroine and star of Quivering Thighs. She’s an interesting chick, so take a look at what she had to say…

Quivering Thighs by Ashlyn Chase

TJ: Hi Kendra…oh, should I call you by another name considering your current circumstances?
Kendra: No, Kendra’s fine. Now that I don’t have to worry about Carlo- the big, fat, Italian loser- finding me, I can use my real name.

TJ: How did you end up in your current line of work? And what is your profession, by the way?
Kendra: I’m glad you asked. As you know, I was a dancer in Las Vegas, then, when I moved to Hawaii, I became a tattoo apprentice. I really enjoyed that, but my dyslexia kind of got me fired from tattooing at any shop in the Islands–for life! So, after that I went into airbrushing artwork on vans. That was fun for a while, but when Jake and I talked about how to spend my millions, we decided I could start tattooing again. Now I have my own shop, but the only tattoos I do are the Henna kind–because they’re temporary!

TJ: Millions? Would you care to elaborate? Better yet, can I have a loan?
Kendra: A loan, huh? Jake and I aren’t a bank or your parents. But if you want to know how many millions we have and where I had stashed it, you have to read my story.
And by the way…let’s have a contest for those who DO read the book. Anyone who can tell me how much and where I hid the money from the mafia wins a trip to Hawaii! (LOL. You almost fell for that one, didn’t you?)

TJ: So what do you think of Jake? He looks a little rough around the edges, don’t you think?
Kendra: If you think Jake’s rough around the edges, you haven’t seen the Vegas guys! Jake’s a pussycat compared to them, and a damned handsome one too.

Paranormal Erotic Romance!

I recently learned that one of our fellow authors is creating a business targeted toward the Paranormal Erotic Romance genre. This is awesome because while there are plenty of romance-centric blogs and such, there are few sites dedicated to paranormal erotic romance. So I caught up with my bud, Mari LaCroix and got all in her business for a minute. And she was so cool about it, that she gave me the okay to share our IM (instant message) chat with ya’ll…

TJ MICHAELS: Hey Mari! Thanks for letting us be the first to spill the beans, er, spread the love, about the new site for paranormal erotic authors. Actually, I’m just nosey and you’re being really nice to me! So, give up the scoop, girl, and tell us about what you’re doing.
Marianne LaCroix: Thanks for asking me to join you. As an author of the genre, I have noticed that there was no real “place” for us to gather and be appreciated.
PNR is wonderful, but the fact is that many ebooks, especially erotic paranormals, are neglected.
Marianne LaCroix: I thought, why not make a spot for paranormal erotic novels? So, paranormalerotica.com was born.

Interview with TJ

TJ has her very first print book out at the moment so I thought I’d post an interview I did with her in February to celebrate!

TJ taps her over fifteen years experience in technology to create realistic stories with out of this world characters. Working for an interesting organization puts her in close contact with even more interesting people.

And with an imagination expanded beyond belief since the birth of her two now teen-aged children (she’ll never be sane again), spinning life’s experiences into tales is a blast.

Now that books have caught up to technology (she loves her eBookwise!), TJ’s eBook reader is shown no mercy, forced to entertain her at all hours of the day or night. Even in the dark!

With seven books sold last year (four released with three coming in 2007) TJ hasn’t lost steam. Her mind? Yep, that’s gone, but steam there is aplenty. Currently she’s working on EGYPTIAN VOYAGE for EC’s 2007 Torrid Tarot series, and SERATI’S FLAME, the follow up book to her February release, CARINIAN’S SEEKER. A true Taurus, TJ isn’t slowing down and she’s definitely too stubborn to stop when she sees the fence!

1. Tell us a little about your latest release, CARINIAN’S SEEKER.
CARINIAN’S SEEKER is Book 1 in a series called the Vampire Council of Ethics. It’s a story about a biogeneticist who’s obsessed with death.

Bottom line, she thinks death is overrated and isn’t interested in going there. All her family has succumbed to some dreaded disease or another so she’s spent years trying to find a way to emulate fictional vampire traits. She doesn’t believe in vampires but the man of her dreams turns out to be one. And not only is he a bad-boy vamp, he’s a Seeker. Basically, vamp law enforcement.

2. You’ve also written books featuring feline shifters. What attracts you to the paranormal? (shifters and vampires)
Perhaps it’s my background, but I’m really not sure. My family is part Lakota Sioux and Blackfeet so I tend to weave Native beliefs into some of my books.
I also love paranormal because it’s unusual. I can make up anything I want, be anyone I want, give them any kind of powers I want. I appreciate the freedom of paranormal fiction.

3. When you create a hero what qualities do you like him to have most of all?
The hero has got to be able to understand the heroine. He may be bullheaded, stubborn and mean as hell, but in the end he’s going to understand his woman’s needs and move hell and earth to meet them.
Makes it hard on my heroes because my heroines are always strong, kick-butt women. They may have baggage, but they’ll put it down long enough to kick your ass!

4. What can fans look forward to next from TJ Michaels?
I’m working on a book called EGYPTIAN VOYAGE for Ellora’s Cave. It’s set on a Mediterranean cruise and is a spin off of PRIMED TO POUNCE.

So, you’ll find feline spirit guides, a heroine with awesome intuition and abilities, and handsome men, both good and bad. Also, like POUNCE, this book has loads of suspense, twists and turns. And hot sex!

5. If you had an entire day to yourself, how would you spend it?
I wouldn’t do a darned thing. Having a full-time job makes writing difficult so I find myself up too late and more tired than I should be.

6. Tell us one thing about the writer TJ Michaels that we might not already know?
That I used to be a bodybuilder! I still get in the gym, but not as much as I used to. Also, having two children added a bit of padding to a few places I’m finding impossible to “un-pad.” LOL!

7. Do you have a website or newsletter for readers to check out?
Yep. My website is www.tjmichaels.com . My newsletter is still in the beta stage but is coming soon. There’ll be a link on the home page to subscribe.

If you have any additional questions for TJ ask away! I’m sure we can tempt her to come and answer them for us.
